Adrenaline injection is used to treat anaphylaxis. Adrenaline is injected into the muscle of the outer mid-thigh (midway between the knee and hip joints on the outer side of the thigh) using an EpiPen® (adrenaline autoinjector).
If in doubt in an emergency involving anaphylaxis, use the EpiPen®.
Follow the steps below to use an EpiPen.
Step 1
Form a firm fist around the EpiPen® and pull off the BLUE SAFETY RELEASE.

Step 2
Place ORANGE END against outer mid-thigh. It can be injected through clothing.

Step 3
Push down hard until a click is heard or felt and hold in place for 3 seconds. Then remove the EpiPen® and dispose of it safely - being careful of the needle.
