Fainting

Triggers, signs and symptoms

Fainting can occur at any time and may be triggered by:

  • sudden fear, stress or anxiety
  • pain
  • overexertion
  • exhaustion
  • lack of food
  • dehydration
  • sight of blood
  • low blood pressure
  • standing still in hot conditions
  • cardiac conditions/other medical conditions

People usually recover from fainting quickly, often within seconds, without any lasting effects.
