Triggers, signs and symptoms

Signs and symptoms of gastroenteritis

  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea (runny stools)
  • Stomach pain
  • Refusing to eat or drink (with other symptoms)

Signs and symptoms of Dehydration

  • Drowsy
  • Dry mouth
  • Eyes look sunken or dark circles around eyes
  • Less urine (wee) produced – 12 hours without weeing
  • In babies and young children – less than half the usual wet nappies
  • Dark coloured urine (wee)
